The King of R&B?

(Spotify.com)

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope the holidays were pleasant and that you ate and had a great time!!  Well here's an urgent matter that needs to be addressed and hopefully, it will not happen in the new year; please leave 90's R&B alone.  Yes, I am talking about the main culprit, Jacquees, the self-proclaimed "King of R&B" of this generation 16-25.  Well, it's a good thing he mentioned that last part because I would have thought he had lost his mind.  I get the confidence he has but do you really have to remix the classics?  Like this travesty on Youtube.  The remix of Soul For Real's song, "Candy Rain,"  was a hot mess.  Not only that, he added New Edition's dance moves and parts of Rihanna's "Umbrella," song to the mix.  Adding insult to injury, this little midget had the nerve to disrespect the R&B legend, Keith Sweat!  I understand that cockiness and confidence are needed in this business to survive but the blatant disrespect of legends and lack of creativity really made me question his abilities as a singer.  Does he even have platinum or gold songs in his repertoire?  Is he a good songwriter?  These are the needed elements in order to achieve the title.  Young people these days are something else.  I'm starting to believe that he's trolling us to gain notoriety or fame!  He's not the only one with this nonsense. Jenn Mcmillan decided to remix Teddy Riley's, "No Diggity."   Lord, another hot mess!! Plus the dancing and rapping were rather cringe-worthy. It was so bad that I had to listen to ol' school R&B just to flush out my system.  For the new year, please, please, please create your own material and if you have to remake an original, at least do it right.  Lastly, please pay respects for the greats, because unlike your music, theirs are timeless and I'll bet they'll go far even in the 21st century!  Please and thanks!!!
